Old Songs is a family-friendly festival of folk, traditional, Celtic and world music and dance, known for its relaxed atmosphere, interactive sessions and workshops,hands-on experience and participatory nature. In addition to three concerts there are 120 daytime workshops given by performers. Also featured are a juried craft show, food and instrument vendors, and a well-run children’s activity area.

Just got back from two weeks in the Midwest with my good buddies Jen Kearney & Amy Petty. Laughed like crazed hyenas, played more lead guitar then ever, sang harmonies and had the pleasure of two of the area’s greatest vocalists lending harmonies to my tunes. Realized I have a fear of nothingness in the middle of miles of cornfields in Kansas and learned that Colorado is the every state…red rocks, brown rocks, mountains, green trees, rivers…just effing stunning!

On May 23rd 3 for the Road Tour has a final show at Club Passim, Cambridge, MA! I say final show, not because we’re breaking up, but because that is the night we will reveal our official trio name and the 3 for the Road Tour will be complete. We’re still taking suggestions. Our favorite idea so far “Velvet Jones” was already taken. Others are not suitable for public consumption.

This month I’ll also play solo dates in Portland, ME, Haverhill, MA, Upstate, NY and more. Details below!

Matt Borello and Art Tebbetts return to the Third Fret Coffeehouse at Cotuit Center for the Arts on
Saturday, May 12, for another Bob Dylan Birthday Bash. They celebrated Dylan’s 70 th birthday there
last year, each offering his own take on some of Dylan’s best-loved songs. The event was so well-
received that the two are continuing the tradition by honoring the legendary folk singer again this
year. Dylan turns 71 on May 24.

Both accomplished folksingers in their own right, Borello and Tebbetts share a love of all things
Dylan. The two met when Borrello took a class that Tebbetts was teaching at the UMass Dartmouth.
A seasoned performer, Tebbetts has long been a fan of Dylan and his songs. He hosts an Open Mic
in his hometown of New Bedford, which is where he first had the idea to sit down with Borello and
share their large repertoire of Dylan songs.

Borrello is a singer-songwriter from Southeastern Massachusetts. A relative newcomer to the folk
music scene, he performs regularly in the Boston/Providence area, often as a solo acoustic act, but
also with other songwriters or his band, the Quality Dogs. He has won recognition in various New
England talent showcases and songwriting contests in New England, most notably at the Boston Folk
Festival Youth Songwriting Contest.

The Third Fret Coffeehouse is presented as a partnership between the arts center and Trespass
Music and offers an intimate experience for music lovers: an opportunity to hear nationally touring
songwriters in the warm and friendly environment of the center’s Art Studio Building, the Art Barn.
Light refreshments are available to enjoy during the show.

Rich alto vocals, polished award winning lyrics and tightly woven harmonies are the hallmark of Loretta Hagen’s musical career. A 2011 winner of the New Jersey Folk Festival Songwriter Competition, Loretta recently released her third CD, Mud and Stone, featuring uplifting heartfelt ballads, playful up-tempo country swing, and cool bluesy grooves. The album debuted on Folk DJ Charts at #10 and #5 for the title track “Mud and Stone”.
Hagen, a New Jersey-based singer-songwriter brings her songs to life with gentle sincerity and tongue-in-cheek musings through her depiction of the human experience in today’s economic and social climates. Loretta’s melodies leave folks feeling as if they are listening to their own stories set to song.
