Reviewers describe Loretta Hagen as ‘heart driven, soul filling, award winning, Folk Americana.‘ Her rich alto voice and strong songwriting skills have led her to win many awards, including a 2013 JAM Awards’ (Jersey Acoustic Music Awards) “Top Female Songwriter of the Year,” JAM nomination for “Album of the Year,” winner of the NJ Folk Festival Songwriter Competition and designation as a CT Folk Festival finalist.
Hagen’s third CD, “Mud and Stone,” features uplifting folk ballads, up-tempo country swing, and cool, bluesy grooves. “Mud and Stone” debuted at #10 on Folk DJ Charts, consistently #1 on the Roots Music Report for NJ, #5 Top 50 Folk Albums RMR, and continues to receive airplay throughout the US, Canada and Europe. She has performed at premiere venues across the Northeast and Nashville, sharing the stage with Pete Seeger, Roger McGuinn, Sloan Wainwright, Steve Forbert, Richie Havens, Kim Richey and Marshall Crenshaw among others.
Following her critically acclaimed CD Something More, co-produced by Pat McInerney (Nanci Griffith), Hagen released Sundown Till Dawn, a CD that garnered rave reviews and radio play across the country. Sundown Till Dawn is extremely personal, with the title track written about her mother who suffered with Alzheimer’s Disease. Loretta’s Mom passed away peacefully this summer at her home. The emotionally charged ballad is included on the soundtrack of a film called “10 Mountains 10 Years” chronicling the journey of a group of mountain climbers who are raising awareness about the disease. Loretta performs primarily with her trio consisting of husband/guitarist Gary Hagen and djembe players Linda Lambiase or Curtis Kretz.

This effort [Mud and Stone] is first class, top tier. Loretta Hagen is a true contender as an artist to reckon with.

WILLIE NILE is a Buffalo raised American singer-songwriter. In 1980 Nile released his self-titled debut album which according to one critic remains “one of the most thrilling post-Byrds folk-rock albums of all time.” His early career was interrupted by various problems, but he eventually returned to recording and performing in the US and Europe, establishing himself as a respected singer-songwriter. The Buffalo News said that their hometown troubadour’s “Streets of New York” (2006), “House of a Thousand Guitars” (2009) and “The Innocent Ones” that included the blazing anthem One Guitar (2010); stand as “three of the finest recordings to ever straddle the worlds of “singer/songwriter” fare and good ol’street-tough rock ‘n’ roll.” In 2013 Willie released arguably his best album to date, “American Ride” followed by an album of piano centered recordings “If I Was A River”. On May 28th, 2015, at the Best Buy Theatre in Times Square, New York City, Willie joined Bruce Springsteen, Joan Jett, Roger Daltry and Billy Idol at the 11th annual MusiCares MAP Fund benefit concert to honor Pete Townsend for his commitment to helping other musicians with addictions. Willie Nile is an artist to be reckoned with who is at the peak of his powers.

JOHN EASDALE is the lead singer/songwriter and PETER WOOD is one of the guitarists (Both are original members) of DRAMARAMA, a Los Angeles based and Wayne, New Jersey bred alternative rock band always fronted by singer-songwriter John Easdale. The band was formed in New Jersey in 1982 and disbanded in 1994. The band formally reunited in 2004 following an appearance on VH1′s Bands Reunited reality show. Amid renewed interest since the Bands Reunited episode and a large-scale appearance at KROQ-FM‘s annual Inland Invasion festival concert (attended by more than 78,000 fans), Dramarama has since been touring nationally. In 2005 they released a new, full-length studio CD titled Everybody Dies.

JILL HENNESSY is a Canadian born actress, model and musician best known for het staring roles in TV’s Law and Order (as Claire Kinkaid) and Crossing Jordan (as Jordan Cavanaugh). She began her musical career before becoming a model or an actress, busking on the streets of Toronto. She has recorded 2 albums “I Do” and “Ghost In My Head” (2009). Springsteen biographer and Sirius XM Radio DJ Dave Marsh wrote about “ Ghost In My Head”, “Jill’s raised her own standard, and delivered completely on things that were maybe only a promise on the first record. The songs are as deep and beautiful as always… Such a command of good songs! Brava!

RICHARD BARONE is an American rock musician born in Tampa, Florida who first gained attention as frontman for the Hoboken, NJ based band, The Bongos, where he released albums such as “Drums Along The Hudson” and “Beat Hotel.” He works as a songwriter, arranger, author, director, and producer, releases numerous recordings as a solo artist (Cool Blue Hallo, Primal Dreams, Nuts and Bolts, Between Heaven and Cello) and in collaboration with others, most recently with Allison Moorer, tours, and has created major concert events at Carnegie Hall, Hollywood Bowl, SXSW, and New York’s Central Park. He is also affiliated with NYU’s Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music.

JOE D’URSO is the lead singer/songwriter of the northern New Jersey roots rock band Joe d’Urso & Stone Caravan who began their career in the early ’90s. Their raw raucous style is keenly similar to the likes of fellow American rockers John Mellencamp, Tom Petty, and Bob Dylan. D’Urso, has been critically acclaimed for being a passionate songwriter and an earnest performer with a deep love for making music. Joe independently released their debut, Rock-Land, in 1993. Mirrors, Shoestrings & Credit Cards followed three years later and led the band to opening spots for Big Head Todd & the Monsters, Wilco, Joan Osborne, the Allman Brothers, and Bruce Springsteen. In 1998, he signed to Capitol/Right Stuff and issued their third release, Glow, in 1999. A year later, considered to be one of his best works, Rock and Roll Station was released. He has released a total of 13 albums and continues to tour the world.

Opening Circle:
CHRISSI POLAND is a true soul singer, writer, and multi-instrumentalist. Weaving in the sounds of soul, roots, and electro-pop, she channels a sound that captivates and compels people to wonder how “that voice comes from that little body.” Ms. Poland has shared the studio and the stage with several acclaimed artists including Nile Rodgers, Moby, Sting, The Edge, Will Lee, Kylie Minogue, Elvis Costello, Clint Black and legendary Stax “Soul Man” Sam Moore (formerly of Sam & Dave). One of the pioneers of soul, Sam says of Chrissi: “Now this is a girl you GOT to hear.” “Her movements are fluid and rhythmic, her vocals are flawless and her love radiates from the tips of her fiery red hair to the heels of her fierce knee high boots. If you haven’t had the distinct pleasure of being entertained by Poland, do yourself a favor and get to her next show. You are guaranteed to leave with your mind blown, your soul healed, your heart full, and your ears ringing with the pure essence of the NYC music scene.“-NYC Art Scene

Roxbury residents Renee & Clark Paddock, creators of “Groove in the Grove” Songwriter Festival, are celebrating the 5th anniversary of the festival’s creation. Veteran musicians themselves, the Paddocks had been volunteering and working for many local music festivals and realized that they were touched most by the local and regional artists; hardworking and talented musicians and songwriters, marketing themselves and working on building their reputations. They began “Groove in the Grove” as a venture to feature these artists and bring them together to network. Five years later the mission remains the same: gaining exposure and networking power for talented but not-so-well known indie artists.

Clark and Renee Paddock also host the ever popular Riverside Rhythm and Rhyme concert series in Hackettstown, NJ. Their mission is to promote the arts, primarily independent singer/songwriters in the northeast.
Riverside Rhythm and Rhyme is an outreach program of the Skylands Unitarian Universalist Fellowship. Managed by Renee and Clark, they produce live shows generally once a month with an opening hour Songwriter Acoustic “open mic” and finish the evening with a featured local or regional indie (independent) singer/songwriters.
Musicians themselves, Clark and Renee still find time to perform, while Clark founded and runs Mountain Ledge Music, a recording studio.
