About Matt Borrello:

Matt Borrello is a singer-songwriter from Southeastern Massachusetts. For five years Matt has performed regularly in the Boston/Providence area, usually as a solo acoustic act, but also as a sideman for other songwriters and as the leader of his band, the Quality Dogs. His songs draw their structures from folk, country, blues, and rock music. He is a lover of spontaneous collaborations and his songs often have several different arrangements. Matt writes from a personal perspective, but his songs are markedly devoid of the boring self-pity that plagues the repertoires of many acoustic balladeers. He has several protest songs and no breakup songs. Matt’s insightful lyrics and passionate performances have earned him recognition in various New England talent showcases and songwriting contests, most notably at the Boston Folk Festival Youth Songwriting Contest

About Brooks WIlliams:
Brooks Williams is the proverbial triple threat. He plays a fiery guitar, has a rich and silky voice, and writes hook-laden songs. He is one of the most commanding performers on the acoustic Roots and Blues scene and is ranked one of the world’s Top 100 Acoustic Guitarists.

The San Antonio Light says that Williams is a “fret monster who has to be seen to be believed!” For 25 years he has been wowing audiences worldwide, every night delivering the deepest and most intense interpretations of everything from early blues to inventive covers to his own recent original compositions. Dirty Linen calls him one of “America’s musical treasures.”

Marc Douglas Berardo is the kind of hard working, fast moving, adventure seeking, keen observer who lives for the story and the song. In what amounts to song length works of fiction, Berardo’s sharply drawn portraits cast a net on unusual and beguiling characters and places. With a painter’s eye for detail, and music firmly rooted in the great American sound, Berardo sings about circus retirees, expatriates in Florida rum bars, union iron workers, old poets, aimless New York City debutantes, near death car crashes, hard nosed fishermen and of course, the changes that experience brings to everyone. He does this “simply and well” with what Rambles Cultural Magazine calls: “careful images and great tunes.”

“Marc Douglas Berardo is a talented Westerly acoustic artist whose material concentrates on the sea and its allure with strong melodies and a memorable voice.” -The Boston Phoenix

“Our talented Westerly songwriter, Marc Douglas Berardo writes stunning, sharply drawn Americana portrait-like stories that are excellent.” -Jim Vickers-Motif Magazine, Providence, RI

About Nathan Bell:
Nathan Bell is in the second phase of career that began with acclaim in the 1980s, followed by a long stretch outside the music world, now resumed as a solo performer. He is still in his way outside the music world. A powerful songwriter and performer.

“Bell’s mature talent makes a good case for the argument that people shouldn’t start writing songs until they’ve been around long enough to know what the fuck they’re talking about.” —John Conquest, Third Coast Music

“How good was Nathan Bell? The heavy drinkers and hard cases refused to piss until the show was over.”—-Jay Johnson, proprietor of Honky Tonk House Concerts

About Seryn:
Using folk instrumentation and world rhythm, Seryn crafts music from soaring to serene while flowing seamlessly from one extreme to the other. Paste Magazine was impressed enough to name their 2011 SXSW performance Best of the Fest! I expect the next time you hear Seryn in the area it will be at Track 29 or Bonnaroo.

“I fell in love with this band’s recorded music just in time to book them for our SXSW day parties, and they dominated the showcase. I don’t know what they put in the water in Denton (fellow Dentonite Sarah Jaffe also slayed), but the majestic swells make it feel like you’re watching Arcade Fire before their first album.” – Josh Jackson, Paste

“Watching Seryn perform, it’s hard to convince yourself that those crystalline, multi-part harmonies are pre-recorded or some kind of sleight of ear. Ferociously skilled and preparing a full-length debut for release later this year, Seryn’s is a name you will hear over and over (and over) again in the months to come.”- Fort Worth Star-Telegram on Seryn’s SXSW Show

Acoustic Live in NYC and Beyond Magazine is a listing guide for performances by area and venue in NYC and the Tri-State area, for acoustic and roots-based music with features on performing artists. Each year Richard Cuccaro comes back from NERFA (Northeast Regional Folk Alliance Conference) armed with CD’s from the conference which is attended by over 700 people. Trespass is thrilled that Richard has reviewed 2 of our clients, Ryan Fitzsimmons and Amy Black! Thanks also to Richard for all of the wonderful photos of NERFA memories, and especially the one of Tracey Delfino and Michelle Fortier! Check out the magazine, the listings and the features.

Ryan Fitzsimmons “Cold Sky”
“Ryan Fitzsimmons has a singing style with an engaging, mature pop feel, edgy and full. The production here ranges from roots-rock/pop to acoustic employing banjo and fiddle. One of the more satisfying tracks is “North Central Line.” The lyrics mourn the loss of an old railway line and the inexorability of change: I’m waitin’ on the North Central Line / in a station where here’s no place for time / on a platform that’s slowly rotting away. Mandolins and fiddles provide a fitting backdrop to this paean to a bygone era.”

Amy Black “One Time”
“Although her promo notes say she calls Boston her home base, there’s a lot of the South in Amy’s gritty vocals. Her tales of busted romance, heard over a dobro’s slide put us well below the Mason-Dixon Line. When she rocks out, it’s with a big dose of rockabilly and that’s right in my wheelhouse. We expect that the airwaves/cyberstreams will be carrying a lot of Amy.”

COLD SKY brings Ryan’s amplified Americana sound to record. Produced by David Goodrich (Chris Smither, Peter Mulvey, it showcases all sides of his talent, from the catchy bluegrass-tinged hook of “I Don’t Want to Wait”, to the dark electronically-bent melancholy of “Cigarettes”. This album is a journey that takes us from dark shadows of grief and regret to the pure joy of singing at the top of your lungs. This record is a document, recorded mostly live in the studio, of what Ryan’s been doing on stage for years; pouring every ounce of his being into each note. The listener can’t help but to buckle in and enjoy the ride!

“Patience is a virtue, goes the saying. That certainly applies to the new album “Cold Sky” by the American singer and songwriter Ryan Fitzsimmons. On the new album in several sessions over a period of seven years work and live in the beautiful Signature Sounds studio in Massachusetts, assisted by skilled producer David Goodrich. For many, probably known as a producer of albums by Chris Smither, Jeffrey Foucault and Peter Mulvey.

Ryan Fitzsimmons has over the last ten years in America has a huge reputation as a singer-songwriter, he has a fan base that attracts. “Cold Sky” is a series of breathtaking musical moments. Ryan Fitzsimmons makes this CD a diverse range of folk and pop songs heard. Exuberant about his marriage to Meredith Venner (Diamond Ring) and covered by a dark shadow of sadness over the loss of his dog (Guardian) convinces “Cold Sky” on all fronten. De singer-songwriter proves that good songs need little more than his emotional voice, the semi-acoustic arrangements and the strong support of Dana Price (violin, Ian Goldstein (mandolin (Faisal Aswat (bass), Greg Klyma (mandolin) and Jim Larkin (drums).”
