Rein Wortelboer started promoting country music in Venray in September 1982, after joining the Venray Hospital Radio in July that same year. In January 1987 Rein started with an nameless, once a month, show for the Venray Hospital Radio. In April 1990 (program #40) the name PeelGrass was introduced. Rein found a tune by that name on an album, released by the Venray administration. The (bluegrass) tune was played by two Venray musicians. The explanation of PeelGrass is as follows: ‘Peel’ is the name of a nature area near Venray and in the area a lot of special grass (Grass) grows. Also Grass is, as everybody knows, the second syllable of Bluegrass. On May 6, 2009 show # 2500 was aired.
