In April’s installment of the Trespass Music Tracker, we talked about Open Mic’s. I asked the subscribers to write in with feedback on their favorite open mic and the response was amazing. Thank you to everyone who took the time to email in. So…..(drum roll)….As compiled by our readers….(drum roll)… here is the list of the top 5 open mic’s:
1. Eddie’s Attic – Decatur, Ga.
For almost 20 years, every Monday night, this SONGWRITER’S OPEN MIC has been going strong. On any given Monday, you’ll get to hear some touring performing songwriters, some local touring songwriters home from the road, some local songwriters that don’t tour, some up and comers working on their chops, some amateurs that will never tour, and sometimes, someone that you can look back and say I heard them when…but be guaranteed, it’ll be an entertaining evening!
2. The Lizard Lounge Open Mic Challenge – Cambridge, Ma.
Hosted by Tom Bianchi & a weekly celebrity judge this open mic has been a huge success for 4 plus years -

$3 for performers signed up
$5 for patrons

3. Rest Stop and Rejuvenate – Rockaway, NJ.
Hosted by Joe Fischetti & Mike Flynn
3rd Saturday of every month
Time: 8:00 pm 11:30 pm
Cost: Gratitude Donation
Coffee/tea and desserts provided
They welcome musicians, singers, poets, and storytellers. Offering a supportive living room environment, giving this Open Mic a home concert feel. You do not have to be a musician to stop by, all are welcome to sit back and enjoy the show.
4. Steel City Coffeehouse – Phoenixville, Pa
Host: David Spencer -Every Thursday 7:30-10:30 PM [$3.00 Cover]
Steel City Coffee House launched the Thursday Night Open Mic back in 2003 and it has become the premiere open mic in the area bringing well over 100 people in and out during the evening. Thursday open mic night features a variety of local and regional talent. In general, each performance lasts for 2-songs/10-minutes. You never know what’s up next, acoustic guitar, flute, poem, bass, mandolin, or a native American chant. Sign up begins at 6:30 PM
5. Rick’s Music World – Raynham, Ma.
Admission is $3 per person, which helps fund RMW Scholarship Program.
Every Thursday night, the lights go down at 7pm as Rick’s serves their musical community by hosting Rick’s Open Mic. The public is welcome and they are family-friendly, too. You will not find a more supportive and encouraging live audience anywhere!! You’ll see a range of ages from 5-85 and watch a variety of music styles.
On a typical Open Mic Night, each act is allowed stage time for up to two songs (10 minutes maximum total stage time). Students and local musicians who are interested in performing can sign-up starting at 6:30pm. Once a month there is a Feature Act who performs for about a half-hour during the evening.
