Many thanks to J.W. McClure and the folks at Victory Music for taking the time to review “All in Good Time” for there current issue:
Review of Joe Iadanza’s “ALL IN GOOD TIME”, by J.W. McClure:
This haunting CD begins with ‘Skin and Bones,’ with sparse banjo and clear lyrics, “Oh, my crime was leaving you there all alone.” A young man lies about his age and goes off to war–a timeless story. ‘Taxi Car’ speaks of an urban setting but Iadanza makes this poem seem like the bitter author is as isolated as a wagon on the prairie. This is unusual poetry, leaving behind the tired rhyming schemes of
pop music. ‘For Those Who Wait’ continues the subdued tone, instruments, fiddle and guitar, are sparse but quite adequate to the meaning. All of these songs are lyric driven. At times the melody is insignificant and Joe is just speaking to us. Some of these song poems are painful and full of alienation. The closest song to a predictable melody is ‘Stuck On You’. The whole collection is quite unusual, interesting, although a bit dark. Iadanza requires a listening audience and he got my attention.
